Heavenly Yet Beautiful Cupcakes

Starting my own cupcake company was a thrill and I learn so much. But I yearned for the calm of taking my time to create perfect little decorations and unique flavor combinations. After selling my business, I decided to focus on teaching my craft. I hope this site will inspire you to create and indulge in one of the best and most satisfying desserts...the cupcake.

The Blushing Bakeshop

Well, we finally did it. We are entering our transition period and have officially switched our name to The Blushing Bakeshop. The new website is www.TheBlushingBakeshop.com.
Soon the Couture Cupcakes link will go away. But our cupcakes will still for ever be called Couture Cupcakes. We are also introducing Couture Wrappers which I have been posting pictures here and there. Within the next month or so we will have an online boutique filled with goodies to help you create your own fabulous cupcakes. We will also start shipping our cupcakes to any US state as well as our cupcake bouquets. I know! So exciting!!!
I do ask for some patience as we have a lot to upload to our boutique. So at first it may look anemic.
Also, our instructional videos are in production. The first one will feature frosting techniques.
If anyone has products they would like to see in our boutique, let me know.

Wrapped in luxury

I've been a busy bee this week. We are in the process of re-designing our website and adding the eCommerce portion of the site. So, I've been cutting and pasting, baking and decorating...day and night. I also have expanded my cupcake wrapper line. Here are some of my latest designs that will be available on our site.

Quicky Inauguration

I whipped these up as a last minute order for a client having an Inauguration Party. I thought they came out quite nice....simple, but nice.

Viva La Cupcake!

I wanted to quickly upload these shots of an order I did on Friday. I used ChocoPan for the discs. I rolled out the ChocoPan on a silicon embossed mat and then used a biscuit cutter to cut out the circles. After 2 days they were dry enough to add the decorations. I used ChocoPan so the guests could eat the discs if they wanted to as they taste like white chocolate. I loved the cupcakes because they were so colorful. I usually get requests for pastel colored decorations. So this was a nice change.

I will be creating instruction videos which should be done within the next few weeks. If there are certain techniques or request you may have, please email me at TheCupcakeGoddess@gmail.com

Today's Cupcake Idol

I will be taking a cupcake vacation starting Monday. Yeay! And this weekend is packed with Obama and Bye Bye Bush party orders, so I thought I would post one more idol before I leave.

This Cupcake Idol is one of my favorites and was gave me the inspiration to make pretty whimsical cupcakes. Her name is Zalita and her cupcakes are feminine and just precious. She definitely is the Queen of floral cupcakes. They are just so pretty to look at you can't imagine eating them.

She is a phenomenal cupcake artist, in every sense of the word.

Next Cupcake Idol

My next Cupcake Idol is the fabulous gal behind SmallThingsIced (http://smallthingsiced.blogspot.com/). Her work is sculptural and spectacular. I would never think to decorate cupcakes like this. Every time she posts a new design I sit there starring wondering how did she do that? But more importantly, how did she come up with that idea? I feel so green and inexperienced compared to her. But we all have our strengths, hers are in creating unique and sculptural cupcakes.

This one just blows my mind!

Cupcake Idols....featuring Kylie Lambert

I was inspired to create beautiful cupcakes because I had to come up with a way to advertise a 9 carat diamond ring. As my first posting will show you, I ended up putting the ring on a pretty cupcake. I never stopped decorating cupcakes after that ad. And now, I have a little company specializing in gourmet cupcakes that look, I hope, divine. As my little venture evolved and I started to search the web for other people that decorated cupcakes, I stumbled upon Flickr and several groups of women and men that create these unbelievably beautiful and artistic cupcakes.

Well, I think it's time to recognize The Globe's Cupcake Idols. And maybe one day, I too will be some one's Cupcake Idol.

My first Cupcake Idol is Kylie Lambert from Le Cupcake in Australia. her work is both whimsical and playful. She's a true master of her craft. I mean, how cute are these cows? She is also the one who came up with covering cupcakes with fondant like the butterfly shown above.

Stop And Smell the Roses.

This last weekend was a doozy of a weekend. I had so many orders I thought I was going to collapse. And it wasn't even wedding season!

The most timely order turned out fantastic. A client called me a few months ago about her mother's birthday. She was planning a phenomenal weekend to celebrate her mom's big day. part of the festivities included a brunch on Sunday morning. She wanted to do something unique with the centerpieces. So after exchanging ideas back and forth, we decided on cupcake bouquets containing 3 flavors of cupcakes and some blue music notes as her mother loves music. I used silk flowers to fill in the arrangements and made the blue chocolate music note lollipops ahead of time. The rush was the day before when my mother and I had to make 9 dozen cupcakes on top of the 4 other orders we had. Assembly was crazy but we pulled through.
The client was thrilled. I must say, when the arrangements were placed on all the tables I too was thrilled. They looked so real. Even the hotel's chef didn't notice they were cupcakes until to he took a closer look and was surprised to see they were made of cupcakes.
It's always nice to surprise professionals. :)

And Now Onto The Cups

Here is a little glimpse into some of the products I will be selling in the new boutique section of the website. They are all made by hand and will be sold by the dozen. Custom orders will also be available. Aren't they too cute?

I love what I do.

My Journey To Becoming A Gumpaste Flower Goddess

Well, I went to my first class on Monday to learn the art of gumpaste flowers. It was over 2 hours of rolling, pinching, gluing and painting. I loved every second of it. My mother came with me so she too could learn and she loved it as much as I did. At one point during the class we looked at each other while rolling out some gumpaste and giggled. We felt like we were in kindergarten again playing with play dough. Here is a shot of my first rose. I must say I'm quite proud of my little rose. I walked out of the class feeling like a proud peacock carrying my flower a parading it to anyone that would notice.

And here is my Mother's first rose. She was equally as proud. When she got home she ran to my father to show him what she had made. It was very endearing to watch. She was a kid again.

A Spot Of Tea

I had some extra gumpaste from an order and thought I would create something dainty with it. So late one night while watching Jay Leno I got out my brushes and my tools and had an arts and crafts moment. I also made the red wrap. The wrap inspired me to make more and maybe add them to our new online boutique which should be launching soon. The products we chose are awesome and will provide anyone with the materials needed to make their cupcakes into Couture Cupcakes. I'm excited!

The teapot I made here was quite easy. I first started with a ball and then added the snout and lid. I created the handle last and glued it on using gumpaste glue. The little teacups I made by rolling a tiny bit of gumpaste into a disc and then wrapping around the end of one of my wooden spoons I use to cook with. I made sure that the end of the spoon was covered in cornstarch to prevent the gumpaste from sticking. The saucer was made by rolling the gumpaste into a disc and using a small medicine cap as the mold. I just stretched the edges of the gumpaste to fold around the cap to give it that lip. The handles were done last and glued on.

Painting them was fun. I chose a pattern from a tea set I have. I should of used one of the pieces in the shot. But it was really late and I was too lazy.
